Lantern

Numerals held inside a paper lantern, lit from within and swaying just enough to be noticed. The light leaks through the seams and falls on nothing, because there is nothing else in the frame.

The swaying stops when the system asks for reduced motion; the lantern stays lit.

Settings

  • Background color color
  • Second hand on / off
  • Glass effect on / off

The engine needs a graphics card that supports the system graphics API: Direct3D 12 on Windows, Metal on macOS, Vulkan on Linux. In practice this means two things:

  • a physical machine with a graphics card is required, a virtual one will not do;
  • on Linux the graphics drivers have to be installed and configured.
