The Monolith clock face
A recording of the Monolith screensaver in motion.

Monolith

A single concrete slab with the hour cut clean through it. Daylight passes through the cut and lands on the floor as a bar that moves with the minute, which is the only thing on the face that moves at all.

The most austere clock in the collection, and the one that holds up best on a large screen.

The engine needs a graphics card that supports the system graphics API: Direct3D 12 on Windows, Metal on macOS, Vulkan on Linux. In practice this means two things:

  • a physical machine with a graphics card is required, a virtual one will not do;
  • on Linux the graphics drivers have to be installed and configured.

Installing Monolith and removing it again is covered on the help page, together with what to do when the screensaver does not start.
